“The road to success is never easy, but life is too short to be miserable”
“This business is never easy, and facing constant rejection everyday can be very draining. Often it feels like a lesson in patience, determination and perseverence. Someone might hear a hundred no’s before you finally get a yes. But the ‘yes’ is worth the fight. It’s definitely worth the hard work to achieve your dreams. I’ve had a lot of health problems that started in college, that I continue to deal with everyday. I’m now in treatment, and each day I continue to get better, but that has been my biggest struggle and hardship. Sometimes, I simply don’t have the energy to get out of bed. Or, I have to fight to get through the day. And, being on a set for twelve to sixteen hours can really put a strain on my body. It can be extremely difficult for a healthy person, but for someone that isn’t completely well, it’s a battle. But, life was never meant to be easy, and what doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger, right? I feel that as I continue to get better, I get stronger in the business. My mom has always told me that if success were easy and just handed over, we wouldn’t appreciate it as much, and she couldn’t be more right. Each experience has been a blessing, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the road I’m on, however difficult it can be. It would be easier to get a “normal” job that doesn’t require as much travel and strain, but life is short and I can’t imagine doing anything else. The opportunity to become someone else, to fill their shoes, to create a something from nothing, to be able to embrace the flaws of someone and speak their voice; these are all things that keep me going. There is something so magical in the work, that it sucks me in. Acting is my drug of choice. So, even when things are tough, I just can’t walk away, because it would mean giving up a part of me. So, as I look to the future, I hope to continue to be blessed, and the expectation that things will keep getting better. With my career and in my life, God is the one who gives me strength, and he has blessed my life with the chance to do what I love. And, I hope that my work will mean something to someone, that at least one person walks away feeling different. That makes everything worth it!”
