Throwing Stones hits FANGORIA!

Writer/director/producer Bart D. Van Bemmel got in touch with info and a couple of exclusive photos from the just-wrapped Internet horror series THROWING STONES. The story is set in a high school where a group of students forced to take Saturday detention start going missing, and those remaining have to overcome their differences in order to survive.

Van Bemmel, who shared the aforementioned duties with Jason A. Wheeler, tells Fango, “The concept of THROWING STONES derives from the sociologist theory on broken windows. A broken window is left unfixed in a neighborhood; it signals to the community that it’s acceptable for that type of behavior to take place. These ideas compound until the neighborhood becomes decayed and unable to achieve its past grandeur. Now apply that theory to schools and replace broken windows with broken students, and you have one hell of a horror ride as the antagonist eliminates the unacceptable elements who walk the halls of Blair High School.”

The cast includes Lindsay Siedel, Cherami Leigh, Rebekah Kennedy, Kayla Carlyle and Chad Cox, and THROWING STONES’ creators are aiming for a release at the end of 2010. “We’re eyeing several media outlets such as Comic-Cons, horror festivals, etc.,” Van Bemmel says. “We’re hoping this project stirs up enough interest for people to either demand a season two—because season one definitely leaves you hanging—or perhaps someone else will want to pick up the series or make a feature film based on it.” He and Wheeler also have a dark comedy script called BUTTERSCOTCH in development, with director Jon Keeyes of AMERICAN NIGHTMARE and the upcoming THE GATHERING and actors Lindy Booth (from DAWN OF THE DEAD, WRONG TURN and CRY_WOLF), Debra Jo Rupp and Jason Priestley attached.

Saturday School goes to hell in Throwing Stones!

Writer-producer Bart Van Bemmel dropped Shock Till You Drop a line today to fill us in on the upcoming horror series Throwing Stones.

Lindsay Seidel (The Final), Cherami Leigh, Rebekah Kennedy, Kayla Carlyle and Chad Cox star.

"Throwing Stones takes place at Saturday School," explains Van Bemmel. "No other horror has capitalized on this school setting like this or the deaths that take place. We are very excited about this project. We are shooting for a release date at the end of this year - in which we are aiming for several media outlets including comic-cons, horror fests, etc. We are shooting season one with the hopes of the audience demanding season two or the feature version which this web series is based on. Not only does each web episode leave you hanging and on the edge of your seat, but so will season one."
